“HOME” MAINTAINANCE

Sitting at the table, dining on a delicious homemade low fat breakfast burrito – basically enjoying life – I watched some darling little starlings invading the neighbor’s eaves. It was obvious that a roof air vent was broken and the birds were busy bringing nesting material to their new residence.
I chuckled to my wife, “Well, our neighbors are in for a surprise. They will be awakened at every sunrise (or before) by the scratching, pecking noises coming from those little roof dwellers!”
I thought about the openings in our lives that give access to little birds of doubt, fear, unbelief, distrust, animosity, hatred, jealousy, etc which happily nest in our hearts. Just as improper home maintenance provides entry to birds, rodents and other creatures, improper maintenance of our spiritual home gives entry to all sorts of spiritual “creatures.”
We must patch the holes, fill the cracks, cover the openings, and seal the gaps in order to secure our home environment.
Our spiritual home is made secure by our steadfast surrender and obedience to the Holy Spirit as He works God’s will and purposes in our life.
I encourage you perform a spiritual home inspection. (Be sure to have the expert assistance of the Holy Spirit Who reveals EVERY flaw and points out EVERY imperfection.) It’s the only way to be assured that destructive creatures have not invaded your life.
I pray the Lord blesses you today.
Warmly, in His love and life,
Roland Scroggins
