GOD'S GPS

In preparation for a career change, I recently purchased a Garmin GPS. (This is to facilitate my driving in unfamiliar locations.) The device is a fantastic bit of technology that directs you to addresses using satellite signals. The one I have actually speaks the names of the streets.
The first time I saw one of these little masterminds in action was on one of my trips to Florida for a training session. Shirley, who is my trainer, had one attached to the windshield and it directed our travels to various cities around the state, almost flawlessly. In my male stupidity, I ignored the nice female voice on the Garmin GPS a couple of times and missed my turn and drove miles out of the way to recover.
Janet and I enjoy using our GPS as we drive around the greater Seattle area. It really does keep us from getting lost and gives us a unique sense of safety.
I thought about the GPS (God's Precious Spirit) the Lord has provided for us in our Christian travels. The Holy Spirit knows the way before us. He patiently leads us and speaks to our heart in order to help us understand the way. He NEVER misdirects nor is He ever wrong in His directions.
The challenge we have is to listen to Him and go the way He instructs. Very much like "obeying" the voice on the Garmin GPS, I must truly obey the voice of the Spirit. The Garmin is mere technology and needs occasional updates and corrections. The Holy Spirit is perfect and NEVER needs updating or correcting.
I pray the Lord blesses you today. Warmly, in His love and life, Roland Scroggins © 2006
