DISCARDS!

(I am now "podcasting" my MM's at www.minutemessagepodcast.net. I hope you will visit the link and tell a friend.)

I've been having a ball going to thrift stores and yard sales and "rescuing" musical CD's. I used to view thrift store shopping (or, as Martha Stewart so sophisticatingly purrs,"tag sale') as looking for junk, old stuff or collectables.

But, I've changed my perspective and now see my lowscale shopping a upscale treasure hunt.

I'm finding CD's of the genres I like for a fraction of their original cost. One to two dollars for Christian, Classical, Pop, Oldies and instrumental.

The reason I am so happy about this is that I purchased a 20 gig iPod and I want to fill it with music, singing, sermons, podcasts, etc. The iPod is a wonderful little portable system I can carry in my pocket. I have become a 65 year old hipster. Cool - "with it" - technologically in tune. Yeah!!

Enough of that hoopla and back to the thrift store shopping. As I select each of the various CDs it's like I am rescuing them; giving them new life. It's like I have the power to pick them up and let them sing again!! Discarded but rescued; that's my new theme.

Here's where my spiritual lesson comes in. Just like a discarded, discounted and silent musical CD (full of potentional, emotions and talent) we were rescued from the thrift store of the devil. No longer considered worth much we sat on the shelf among the other junk until Jesus came down our aisle.

Do you remember when He picked you up (instantly increasing your worth) and let you sing again? Remember how your music came alive again?

The Lord has been shopping the discount stores of life for a long time. Aren't you glad He found you?

I pray the Lord blesses you today.

Warmly, in His love and life,

Roland Scroggins
