BAH HUMBUG!

Recently, my wife and I were in a restaurant having lunch and enjoying the Christmas carols which were playing over the sound system. When our waitperson came to our table we remarked about how we love hearing the Christmas music.

"Yeah," she answered. "I do too."

She continued, "But we had to turn it off for a day because someone complained."

We both expressed our shock that the management of a private restaurant franchise would stop broadcasting music that 99% of his patrons love because one person complained.

I believe political correctness in our country has reached a foolishness level that is making our country a mockery to other nations. Think about it. Would you dare to complain to the management about anything they were doing in, say, an Arab or Asian country?

"Ah," you say. "But that's the wonderful "freedom" we enjoy in America.

I've come to believe the whole PC philosophy is bogus. I believe the reason we roll over so easily in America, to accommodate those who don't like or appreciate our "ways," is directly related to the leaders and power brokers in this country. They don't like or appreciate our "ways" either.

So their "emptiness" is translated into laws and/or "threats" which are emboldened by the bogus PC argument. Our American persona has been sickened by this poison and we are dying under it's influence. Our religious holidays, songs, decorations and special events have been pre-empted by the "I'm offended" crowd, often with the encouragement and support of the judiciary and the attorneys who do it's biddings.

Here's the deal for me. I refuse to stop saying, "Merry Christmas" or singing carols. I will not negate Easter nor will I stop singing "God Bless America." I will continue to pledge my allegiance to the American flag and I will continue to worship the God whose Word formed the founding principles of "this greatest nation on God's green earth." (Thank you, Michael Medved!)

So I say, "Bah Humbug to Political Correctness" and I shout "Merry Christmas" to all!

I pray the Lord blesses you today.

Warmly, in His love and life,

Roland Scroggins
